The StratREAL Foundation will work with VSO to support their programme in Guyana, which is working to ensure that children with special educational needs and those that are orphaned and vulnerable are able to exercise their rights to inclusive, quality basic education.

smiling children holding leaves VSO believes that education is one of the most powerful tools in the fight against poverty, enabling children to realise their potential and participate in society. Globally, more than a hundred million children still don't have access to schooling, mostly in poor countries. In Guyana in particular, children account for one third of the country's population and are more affected by poverty than any other group. Children orphaned by HIV/AIDS and those affected by disability are particularly vulnerable.

The project will focus on ensuring that these young people receive an improved and sustained level of education, and will work to train teachers to detect disabilities and special education needs early.
